No one would ever suspect Carole Ramsey’s secret passion as she efficiently races through her daily routine as Personal Assistant to the Close Credit Management’s Group Sales Director. However, when the working week winds down for the Rotherham local, her need for speed revs up.
She said: “I have been known to get up at the crack of dawn in the rain and snow to watch Subaru’s UK leg of the World Rally Championship in Cardiff. Cars are my passion and rallying is such an adrenaline rush.”
Carol’s number plate of S555 CAR betrays not only her initials but her dream of owning a Subaru Impreza Turbo, a car famed for its rallying prowess. Her frustration is evident as she ruefully reveals her prized plate sits on a Fiat Punto Sport in the Close Credit car park – for now.
“I searched DVLA’s cherished number plate site and saw just what I wanted – S555 CAR. When I saw it I thought “result”. It’s dear to me because not only are CAR my initials but it was at a time, before the new advertisement laws came in, when 555 (cigarette brand) were sponsoring Subaru. So it’s Subaru 555 Carole Anne Ramsey; for me it couldn’t be more perfect.
“I never did get the Subaru, just the number plate and a Fiat Punto Sport to put it on. Sad I know. One day though, you may see it on a Subaru and it will be me driving it!”
